Terry Goodkind, Author of the Sword of Truth Series released another book last month, titled "The Law of Nines" I am at this point on Chapter 22. This book is a triumph for Mr. Goodkind. He is Softer than ever.
Spoiler if you haven't finished the Sword of Truth series
A selection from "Confessor" (Hardcover)
Chapter 63 pg 590
"Yes, I can see how simple it is" Zedd muttered to himself as he poked a finger through his thatch of unruly white hair to scratch his scalp.
Nathan snapped his fingers as he turned to Zedd. "Now I also understand that other prophecy."
Zedd looked up. "Which one?"
Nathan leaned close. "You remember: 'Someday, someone born not of this world will have to save it.' Now it makes more sense"
Zedd frowned. " Not to me."
Nathan flicked a hand. "Well, we'll have to work out the details later."
Chapter 64 pg 593
"I like my new name, too." He added. "I'm finally used to it. You know, comfortable with it."
When they married, Tom had taken her name, Rahl, so that they could carry it on in the new world. It seemed only fitting that the man who had given them their new life should be remembered in some fashion.
So The Law of Nines takes place in the new world. the world without magic. it sounds alot like our world. Great descriptive naratives give this book a great feel. The overall feel of the book is more that of a thriller than fantasy, which may be attributed to the setting. Either way I'm enjoying the continuity between the Sword of Truth, and The Law of Nines. If you have not read any of the sword of truth novels, go out and grab Wizard's First Rule.
Enjoy the Juxtaposition between his old picture and the new one, Can't see if the Pony tail is still there...but I hope it is.
